Cables – Adding Texture and Performing Surgery (Gasp!) – Jo Bint
Skill Expectations for this Workshop:
Participants have experience with knitting cables and are confident with yarn management.
Duration: 3 hours | Capacity: 16
Location: Level 2 – Oak Room
Students must supply these materials:
- Attendees should bring sport or DK weight yarn in a single colour and needles appropriate to achieve a gauge of around 24 sts in 10cm. A spare needle or DPN, stitch holders, crochet hook and a cable needle will be helpful to have.
You’ve knitted some projects with cables and loved them. Now you want more!
In this workshop we will:
- Explore the unlimited ways you can add texture to your cables, both to the background and to the cables themselves.
- Learn when we can fix cable “mistakes” and when we have to frog.
- Practice dropping groups of stitches (on purpose!) to fix mis-crossed cables.
- Work on using duplicate stitches and surgery to fix cables in a finished knit.
Do you have a cabled project you love or you’re having problems with? Bring it along and let’s chat!
