Jo Bint is the knitter, designer and teacher behind Snowy Thistle Knits. Her work has her native Scotland at its heart, though she’s heavily influenced by her adopted home in Nova Scotia. With ancestors who were tartan weavers in the borders of Scotland and a long line of knitters on both sides of the family, the fibre industry is deep in her blood.
Her passions for colour and texture often take her outside, wandering in the forest or collecting pretty stones at the beach. A knitting project and a design notebook are never far from her reach as she delights in the challenge of transferring patterns and shapes into knitted fabric. Jo loves to teach and help knitters find joy in discovering they have mastered a new technique.
Snowy Thistle Knits designs are classically and thoughtfully styled, with a focus on functionality. The patterns are carefully written to make them easy to follow, allowing knitters to create stunning masterpieces and simple accents of cables and lace. Jo also has helpful how-to videos on her YouTube channel.
Alongside knitting patterns, Jo creates beautiful leather shawl cuffs and handy wooden notions – perfect embellishments for your favourite new fibre pieces.
