Introduction to Crazy Quilt Embroidery – Penelope Player

The workshop is suitable for every skill level; however, participants must have some embroidery experience.

Location: Level 2 – Birch Room

  • All materials are supplied.
  • Scissors, thimble and ballpoint pen.

This is an improvisational crazy quilt embroidery workshop with the focus on hand embellishment of a prepared crazy quilt block. It is aimed at stitchers with a basic level of embroidery experience. We will work the way our great (or great-great) grandmothers did in the 1880’s when crazy quilting was the hottest new thing: a patchwork block and a threaded needle. There will be no patterns. Working with a few simple stitches and insights on placement and combining stitches, you will become your own creative designer for the project.
