Impervious Shawl, project class – Kim McBrien Evans
Skill Expectations for this Workshop:
– Basic knitting skills: knit/purl, cast on/bind off, increase/decrease
– Understands what short rows do (but does not need experience making them)
– Cable cast on experience is an asset, but not required (this will be covered in class)
– German short row experience is an asset, but not required (this will be covered in class)

- A printed pattern + option to have pattern added to student’s Ravelry library
- 3 skein yarn kit — kit colours can be chosen with Kim directly and she will bring kits to class with 1 skein caked for easy start. Information will be forwarded with all details upon purchasing your workshop ticket. Contact Kim at [email protected]. Please contact Kim by September 15 if you want to pick your colours.
Students must supply these materials:
- Pencil, pen, notebook for taking notes
- Optional, but helpful: highlighters or light coloured markers in a few colours
- Needles: 3.5mm/US circular needle (80 cm/32 inch cord is sufficient)
The Impervious Shawl uses Kim’s unique Optical Delusion technique to create artfully created short row shapes that evolve into the most spectacular shawl you’ll ever make! The technique takes “problem” variegated yarns with 5-10” colour repeats and shows you how to bend the colours to your will in dynamic shapes reminiscent of flames, leaves, feathers or waves.
