Amanda Moore is the name behind Red Island Fibre. She started dying for herself at the start of the pandemic and by January 2021 her passion became a small business. An avid knitter, Amanda joined the PEI Spinning and Weaving Guild in 2019 which led to her finding her passion for hand dyeing wool. She gets her skeins and roven from a mill in Ontario but also has fallen in love with wool from locally sourced farmers. She loves creating colour schemes and is a big supporter of Island sheep. Her mission is to introduce different types of wool that’s available on the Island.
She finds inspiration in her home province, Prince Edward Island for her unique colourways. All of her yarns are dyed with professional dyes by hand. She offers custom orders when time permits. She loves to promote the Island and can’t wait to meet everyone that has come to our little island for some fibre fun!
