Workshop – A Taste of Lace (Beginning Lace Class)
This class will begin with a basic review of the lace structure. Students will learn to read a lace chart and practice 3 lace appropriate cast-ons.
Skill Level: A basic knowledge of knitting. A basic knowledge of reading a pattern chart is also helpful.
Bring to Class:
Light Colored Heavy Worsted Weight yarn and knitting utensils including appropriately sized circular knitting needles for the yarn, markers, scissors, row counter, etc.
For the main class exercise students will practice knitting a lace pattern. They will prepare for the knitting exercise by learning how to understand the structure of the featured pattern. This exercise will enable them to “read” their work. They will also be given an overview of the structure of a lace panel and a lace edging. This will enable them to practice single and double-sided lace techniques and horizontal lace knitting at home.
