Working with Motifs & Tessellating Shapes – Sue Maton

Maximum participants: 12

Geometry is the basis for many different repeated patterns and it can be an exciting point of departure for both surface design and constructed textiles such as knit, weave and crochet.

In this workshop Sue will take you through a series of paper based design activities using simple and complex interlocking shapes to generate your own personal collection of pattern ideas.

We will look at the impact colour can have on pattern and Sue will reference her own design and craft practice in this class.

Materials supplied:
  • Paper resources for colouring and collaging
  • Glue sticks
  • A small number of paper scissors
  • White and coloured paper
  • Black pens
