Nuno Felted Scarf – Elise Campbell

Using just soapy water and our two hands, let’s combine wool and silk to create a luxurious, lightweight scarf for Fall. Nuno felting is the process of integrating wool fibre with an open weave fabric to create a highly textured, beautiful fabric. Using extra fine Merino and silk Habotai, Elise will guide participants in the layout, design, felting, and fulling of a lustrous scarf. Nuno felting was developed in the early 90’s and is praised for being a slow and meditative practice. Skills learned in this workshop are transferable to many forms of wearable, sculptural, and 2D art, and Elise will share tips on sourcing silk, and sampling fabrics at home for nuno felting suitability.

In class, participants will choose from a variety of beautiful colours for their scarf, however, personal preferences can be emailed in advance to Elise at: woolart[at]pm.me.
