Learn to Loom Knit – Margaret McEachern

Maximum participants: 20

Learning to knit has never been so easy! In just 2 hours, you will know how to knit “in the round” and how to knit a cozy scarf. And – you will take home your own knitting loom, which has been hand-made in PEI.

We supply the wool needed to create a cowl on your knitting loom. For those interested in expanding their loom knitting knowledge beyond this workshop for beginners, I will have an original Knit Pickers PEI Loom Knitting pattern book available for purchase.

Tickets are non-refundable except in limited circumstances as described in the Purchase Policy.

Margaret McEachern

Margaret McEachern is a knitter, weaver and instructor with a retail studio in rural Mayfield, PEI.

“Knit Pickers by Margaret McEachern” opened in 2005. She designs and knits luxurious wool sweaters and accessories, and weaves tartan shawls, capes, throws and scarves. Her designs are inspired by the beautiful Island landscape. Margaret insists on using only wool that is manufactured in Canada, shorn from sheep ethically raised on Canadian farms.

In 2005, Margaret was commissioned by the Canadian Pavilion at Walt Disney World’s Epcot Center to design and knit a line of maple leaf sweaters and accessories. In 2007, she worked with ACOA to create the “Atlantic Canada Hearth and Home” exhibit at Walt Disney World. Margaret was one of the demo artisan participants.

In 2011, an international group was formed to create a tartan to represent the MacEachern family worldwide. On July 31st, 2012, it was announced that Margaret’s tartan design was chosen. This new tartan is registered with the Scottish Register of Tartans and is permanently preserved and archived at the National Records of Scotland in Edinburgh.

Margaret is passionate about fostering creativity. She created and hosts seven unique Tourism PEI approved “Authentic PEI Experiences” for guests of all ages and experience levels. She believes that learning to make something with your own hands inspires confidence and is beneficial to your mental health and physical wellbeing.
