Knitting a Toque Without a Pattern – Lynne Pascoe

Have you ever been in yarn shop, farmer’s market, or craft fair and found a wonderfully attractive ball of yarn? You only buy one ball/skein and now you want an easy project for yourself or a friend or family member.

Why not make the quintessential Canadian piece of headgear?

No pattern you say!? Join us for this toque workshop and take the first step in knitting without a pattern. We will take one basic shape and be creative with colour, size, yarn, and embellishments.

A tension swatch with your selected yarn and needles.

Attendees to Bring:

  • 1 ball/skein of yarn – 4 oz/113 grams (eg. Briggs & Little Heritage, 4ply yarn, or something in your stash you feel would be appropriate)
  • Knitting needles to suit your yarn (either a set of two or a set of double pointed needles)
  • A tape measure (preferably cloth)
  • A tension swatch 40 sts & 40 rows in stocking stitch with your chosen yarn and needles (take off on contrasting yarn without casting off and leave the ball of yarn attached)
  • Any oddments of yarn you think might be fun to add to the basic toque.
  • A notebook and pencil, scissors, a bodkin, etc.

Tickets are non-refundable except in limited circumstances as described in the Purchase Policy.
