PATTY LYONS (http://pattylyons.com/) is a nationally recognized knitting teacher and technique expert who is known for teaching the “why” not just the “how” in her pursuit of training the “mindful knitter”. She specializes in sweater design and sharing her love of the much-maligned subjects of gauge and blocking.
Patty teaches nationally at guilds, shops & knitting shows around the country as well as hosting her own retreats. Her popular classes can also be found on DVD and online through her website on her education site education.pattylyons.com.
Patty designs and knitting skill articles have been published in Vogue Knitting, Interweave Knits, Knit Purl, Knitter’s Magazine, Cast On, Knit Style, Creative Knitting, Twist Collective and Modern Daily Knitting where she writes a monthly knitter’s advice column: “Ask Patty”. Patty’s designs have also been included in pattern collections from Classic Elite, Noro, Cascade, Tahki Stacy Charles, Sugar Bush and Willow Yarns.
Patty has been a repeat guest on PBS’s Knitting Daily TV and even quoted as a subject-matter expert in the Wall Street Journal.
Patty loves to knit, crochet, spin and has even dabbled on the knitting machine. She is currently attempting not to get sucked into another yarncraft, but weaving is looking pretty interesting. Patty splits her time between Brooklyn and upstate New York where she loves gardening in the summer and sitting by the fire in the winter.
Patty’s new book: Patty Lyons’ Knitting Bag of Tricks will be published in fall of 2022.
Workshop – Patty’s Circular Knitting Bag of Tricks (New)
Patty digs deep into her bag of tricks to show you some of her favorite circular knitting hacks. Patty has some truly unique UNventions (some brand new – never published or taught!) that will make your circular knitting sing. Learn how to make a completely jog free cast on and bind off, as well as some truly magical jogless joins (can we say one row stripe!). There will be tips to avoid ladders from dpns and the weird tight stitch at the magic loop turn and so much more. Finally, Patty will introduce you to Helix knitting, a spectacular circular method, AND (extra credit, if time allows), even tricks to working W&T and German short rows in the round without the icky hole. Get ready to kick your circular knitting up to the next level.
NOTE: Must be comfortable working in a small circumference – magic loop, 2 circs or dpns without supervision.
Must know long tail cast on and how to knit, purl, cast on, bind off. Familiarity with Magic Loop, 2 circs or dpn required.
